'Just Great Wine' Tasting: Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Join me Thursday, July 29th at 6:30pm at the Inn at Palmer Divide in Palmer Lake, CO for a special tasting featuring the sexy, silky Pinots of the Willamette Valley of northern Oregon. We’ll be featuring eight wines, many from the acclaimed 2008 vintage. The price for this tasting is only $25.00/person. 2007 Scott Paul Wines Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley - The 2007 La Paulee starts with an enticing nose of cedar, mineral, cherry, and raspberry. Velvety-textured, it displays elegance, excellent grip, savory fruit, and a lengthy, sweetly-fruited finish. This stylish, feminine effort will provide pleasure through 2017. Wine Advocate: 90 $34.00

2007 Stoller Vineyards Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley - The JV (junior vines) is light in texture, with lovely point to the raspberry and floral flavors, persisting well as the finish opens up nicely. Drink now through 2015. Wine Spectator: 90 $24.00

2006 Domaine Serene Pinot Noir “Evenstad Reserve” Willamette Valley - Smooth and round, with a lovely polished feel to the dark berry, cherry, licorice and spice flavors, flowing easily over finely tuned tannins, persisting expressively. Drink now through 2016. Definitely a Burgundy slayer! Wine Spectator: 92 $55.00

2008 Adelsheim Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley - Smooth and velvety, this is light on its feet, glowing with red cherry and raspberry flavors, with a hint of mint in the background. Lingers easily on the refreshing finish. Drink now through 2013. A great wine from a classic producer. Wine Spectator: 90 $30.00

2007 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon - The 2007 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley has a fragrant perfume of cedar, spice box, eucalyptus, menthol, cherry, and raspberry. Made in an elegant, racy style, this medium-bodied effort has a vibrant core of spicy red fruits, moderate ripe tannin, excellent intensity, and savory flavors. It will benefit from another 1-2 years of cellaring and offer prime drinking from 2011 to 2019. Wine Advocate: 90 $40.00

Ironstone Vineyards Vintner's Dinner @ The Margarita at Pine Creek

Join me Wednesday, August 4th at 6:30pm at The Margarita at Pine Creek in Colorado Springs for a Vintner's Dinner with Stephen Kautz, owner of Ironstone Vineyards. Ironstone Vineyards, located in the Sierra Foothills of California, is a family-owned and operated winery focused on sustainable viticulture. Featured wines will include the 2009 Blue Pirate Pinot Gris, 2008 Blue Pirate Pinot Noir, 2007 A to Z “Night & Day” Cabernet-Merlot blend from the Rogue Valley and the 2006 A to Z “Chemin de Terre” Merlot-Cabernet from the Rogue Valley (I LOVE this wine!). Tri-Lakes Sparkles! A Sparkling Wine & Blues Benefit
Join me Sunday, June 27th from 4-7pm at the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts in Palmer Lake for some bubbles and blues! Sample from over 60 sparkling wines, provided by The Wine Seller, and indulge in gourmet hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants as you listen to the live sounds of Dan Treanor and Afrosippi Blues. As part of the sparkling wine selections, I’ll be selling glasses of Champagne from a nine liter bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne probably the largest bottle of wine ever opened in Palmer Lake! Only fifty glasses will be sold at $15/person or two glass for $25. All proceeds will benefit the fundraiser.
Tri-Lakes Sparkles is a joint community fundraiser to support the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts and the Tri-Lakes Camber Foundation’s Transport 59 program. Transport 59 will initially provide transportation for residents in crisis, under age 60, to and from their homes and Tri-Lakes Cares. As Transport 59 grows it will expand the service to other destinations.
Tickets to Tri-Lakes Sparkles are $30 per person in advance or $35 at the door. Tickets are available at Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts, The Wine Seller and Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce.
